No, you don’t automatically qualify for a Medicare rebate for osteopathy. However, you may be eligible to claim back a portion of your treatment through an EPC Referral (Enhanced Primary Care), from your doctor if they deem the complaint, you are seeking treatment for as chronic. To assess eligibility, please consult your GP. If you do have an EPC referral from your GP, please bring this along to your appointment, as well as your Medicare card and a card linked to a cheque or savings account so we can process the rebate for you on the spot. Please note that you still need to pay the full consultation fee, at the end of your appointment. We will then process your rebate on the spot using HICAPS.

  • How does osteopathy differ from physiotherapy and chiropractic treatment?
Osteopathy, physiotherapy, and chiropractic are all healthcare professions that focus on treating musculoskeletal conditions and promoting overall wellness. While there are similarities between them, there are also some key differences: OSTEOPATHY Osteopathy applies a holistic approach, that emphasises the body's interconnectedness and its ability to self-heal. Osteopaths use manual techniques, such as gentle manipulation, stretching, and massage, to improve joint mobility, relieve muscle tension, and enhance the body's natural healing processes. They also consider lifestyle factors, nutrition, and emotional well-being when assessing and treating patients. PHYSIOTHERAPY Physiotherapy, focuses on restoring movement and function to individuals affected by injury, illness, or disability. Physiotherapists use a variety of techniques, including exercise therapy, manual therapy, electrical modalities, and patient education, to reduce pain, improve mobility, enhance physical performance to assist with rehabilitation. They work with patients of all ages and conditions to develop personalised treatment plans. CHIROPRACTIC Chiropractic care primarily focuses on the musculoskeletal system, particularly the spine, and its relationship with the nervous system. Chiropractors use manual techniques, specifically spinal manipulations, or adjustments, to restore proper alignment, alleviate pain, and improve overall function. They believe that misalignments in the spine can cause various health issues, and by correcting these misalignments, the body can heal itself.
